17 year old Toka Kahn Cleary of Rhode Island represented Southern New England in the finals of the Golden Gloves Wednesday night in Lowell MA.
At 123lbs, Cleary finds himself moving on to the Nationals in Little Rock Arkansas in May after his win over Nathaniel Green of Connecticut.
Cleary and Green, both south paws, traded blows in the first round but after dancing with his opposition for a round Cleary had figured him out. “I’m a boxer, I am fast and I’m young, I want to make the fans happy”.
With 37 amateur fights, a Rocky Marciano title and now a New England Golden Gloves Champion, the charismatic Cleary heads back to the gym to get ready for the championships in May.
Cleary trains out of Manfredo’s gym in Pawtucket RI, under the instruction of world renowned trainer Peter Manfredo Sr.
